I’m planning a surprise for my girlfriend, which consists of me putting a sapphire necklace into her favorite champagne. The only problem is, I don’t know if champagne goes bad soon after opening or lasts a bit. In other words, how far in advance can I put in the necklace without sacrificing the taste and bubbliness?
On a side note, will a sapphire necklace have any adverse effects on the champagne?
Thanks all! I probably should have been more clear. I was hoping to drill a small hole in the cork (I’m a modeller you see) and put the necklace’s chain through it. That way, when she opens it, there’ll be a sapphire necklace (glistening from the champagne i hope!) dangling from it.
You are unclear as to whether you plan to hide it in the bottle or slip it into her glass.
