My mom cried
She absolutely loved this gift and it hit a special note with her especially since no one has bought her jewelry since the divorce. This piece was perfect, light and delicate enough for her to use in her professional environment. -
Disappointing
I had been looking forward to receiving this necklace and was very disappointed when it arrived. The chain is cheap and the silver stamp is right on the front of the pendant. I sent it back.

De Re Metallica brings together a wide variety of perspectives on metal use in the Middle Ages, a topic that has received less systematic scholarly attention than it deserves, given its central importance for medieval culture. Because of its strength, beauty, and prestige, metal figured prominently in many medieval contexts, from the military and utilitarian to the architectural and liturgical. Metal was a crucial ingredient in weapons and waterpipes, rose windows and reliquaries, coinage and jewelry. The 23 essays presented here, from an international team of scholars, explore the production and use of such objects, from the early Middle Ages to the sixteenth century, and from the British Isles, Iceland, and Scandinavia, to France, Germany, Spain and Italy. This thematic, chronological, and geographical scope will make this volume into a valuable resource for historians of art, technology, and culture.
Cashing in on high gold prices
During the lunch hour, several people went to Louisiana Coin Exchange with old jewelry or coins. Jan VanBenthuysen brought some of the odd coins she received as tips when she worked as a waitress 20 years ago.
"I had some old coins that I ran across the other day, that I thought may be worth something since the price of metals have gone up," she said.
Her coins were only worth $4.36, but others have gotten much bigger checks. Owner Nick Wibben said he recently paid a woman a few hundred dollars for some old, broken, gold jewelry she had planned to throw away. He's seen lots of people looking to sell lately.
"The last time we saw this type of activity was back in 1980. We set a record back then," said Wibben.
Now, a new record has been set. Many people brought in old jewelry because gold prices, along with other metals like silver and copper, have reached all time highs.
