i have compared prices of a few GIA & EGL diamonds with the same cuts and gradings, but find that GIA certified diamonds were a few hundred more than those diamonds that are EGL certified ...
GIA certification is a more extensive process. If the diamond is GIA certified (rather than IGI or EGL) it will appraise for higher and is worth more in resale, hence the higher cost up-front.
I found a really good price on an egl certifies diamond, and I really don't know if it's a good idea to purchase it though. Has anyone purchased an egl certified diamond? What was your experience?
